Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Unlike the past two years, admissions will no longer be allowed in higher education institutions after August 14.
The Department of Higher Education (DHE) in the 2022-23 Academic Calendar has clearly mentioned that the deadline for admission into traditional undergraduate courses will be August 14.
For many years, August 14 has been the deadline for admission to colleges offering traditional courses. The deadline was set by the Supreme Court when it ruled on a petition.
However, the DHE had allowed admissions after August 14 also for the past two years citing the Covid-19 crisis. Admissions were made until November during the last two sessions.
“This year, the Covid-19 situation is under control in the country and life has returned to normal. Academic activities have also resumed so the deadline for admission has been set,” said Dr. Suresh Silawat, Additional Director of Indore (Higher Education) Division.
Currently, admissions are ongoing at colleges across the state.
The academic calendar stipulates that classes should start from July 1, while Pravesh Ustav for welcoming freshmen to campuses should take place in the first week of August.
The academic calendar stipulates the formation of a student union in August/September. The schedule states that all college, district and university level competitions must be completed by the end of October and annual functions must be held the second week of February.
Additional exams from September 16
The DHE has set dates for the additional exams to be held between September 16 and 23 and results must be reported by September 30. Universities will be required to declare a tentative exam schedule by February 21. The academic calendar stipulates that the practical exams must be organized between March 14 and 25. The main examinations must be organized between April 1 and May 18 and the results must be declared before June 30.
Second list of BEd seats awarded today
The DHE will publish a second list of seat allocations for teacher education courses, including BEd, MEd, BPEd and MPEd on June 11. Students whose names appear in the list should report to the assigned college and submit the admission confirmation fee.
DHE has authorized three rounds of centralized online counseling for admission to teacher education programs this year.
At this time, registration for the latest round of online centralized admissions counseling is ongoing and will run until June 13.
The final round of seat allocation will take place on June 22.
DHE sources said more rounds could be allowed if seats remain empty in the BEd course.
