Balfour Beatty Appoints Sonya Roberts as Vice President of Human Resources for US Civilian Operations

DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Balfour Beatty announces the appointment of Sonya Roberts as vice president of human resources for the company’s US civil operations. Formerly Vice President of Total Rewards for the Buildings, Civil and Investments business lines of Balfour Beatty, Sonya’s new role will be to oversee human resources for its national civil business. Additionally, she will join the Civils leadership team and continue to be part of Balfour Beatty’s national HR leadership team.

Sonya joined Balfour Beatty in 2000 as Human Resources Generalist and Partner for Balfour Beatty’s Civil and Rail businesses, responsible for all HR related services for nearly 4,000 employees and tradespeople. Since then, she has held various human resources positions with increasing responsibility overseeing efforts that have resulted in more efficient and streamlined workflow processes, technology automation and due diligence in matter of acquisition.

As the guardian of the company’s people-focused culture, she also championed national initiatives to improve diversity, inclusion, pay equity, alliance, mentorship and rewards at Balfour Beatty. .

Sonya is a passionate community service leader where she is a member of various non-profit, professional and civic organizations including the North Atlanta Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., the American Businesswomen’s Association (ABWA), the Junior League of Atlanta, Shared Hope International and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

She is a graduate of South Carolina State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
