Environment Aotearoa 2022 report calls for better use of environmental research in New Zealand
Environmental degradation in New Zealand continues, with the latest national report showing worse air quality, more frequent droughts and high levels of threat to reptile and bird species.
The Environment Aotearoa 2022 report, highlighting the need to improve the way environmental research is conducted and used, was released on April 14 by Stats New Zealand. It shows that 39 of New Zealand’s 51 native freshwater fish are considered threatened and that glacial ice levels have fallen by 35% since 1978.
