A 1973 computer made frighteningly accurate doomsday predictions and showed that civilization as we know it could cease to exist by 2050.
The eerily accurate modeling was developed by professors at MIT University to predict how modern civilization would behave by 2060 – and the the findings were as surprising because they were correct.
Dubbed “World One”, the program, commissioned by the Club of Rome, models how well the world can maintain its current growth trajectory.
What he predicted was that by 2040 there would be total global collapse if population and industries continued to grow unabated.
The computer program analyzed troves of data on pollution levels, birth rates and natural resource stocks to give an overall assessment of the quality of life.
The model made disconcertingly accurate predictions of declining living standards from the 1980s and dwindling natural resources like coal, gas and other vital minerals.
A disturbing news clip from the time shows analysts looking at data on people’s behavior at twenty-year intervals up to 2060.
Each line on the massive graph represents a condition of the planet.
“Let’s look at the Q curve, which is represented by the quality of life, for example how much space people have, how much money they have to spend, how much food they have to eat,” points out A presenter. out.
“It rapidly increases to 1940 but from 1940, the quality of life diminished.
“When we get to the year 2020, it’s really come back straight away.
“Around 2020, the state of the planet becomes very critical. If we do nothing, the quality of life drops to zero.
“The pollution is getting so bad it will start killing people, which will cause the population to shrink, lower than it was in the 1900s.
“At this point, around 2040-2050, civilized life as we know it on this planet will cease to exist.”
The presenter warned that driving cleaner cars or reducing the number of children produced by families is “just a drop in the ocean” to solve the problem of world survival.
Dr. Aurelio Peccei, founder of the Club of Rome, predicted that by 2070 “this Earth, animals, plants, green spaces, are doomed to disappear”.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has already predicted what the “last human on Earth” will look like.
The DALL E AI software showed strange human-like characters, including a small, pale alien living in a deserted world.
Meanwhile, an AI algorithm that was trained in the Bible scriptures was come with their own “prophecies”.
The creation is called AI Jesus and there is already talk of a “plague” and “the end of time”.
The algorithm was created by engineer and quantum researcher George Davila Durendal.
He explained in a blog post: “I present to you AI Jesus. An artificial intelligence of my invention created from the King James Bible and nothing else.
“This AI learned human language by reading the Bible and nothing else; absorbing every word more completely than any monk in any monasteries that ever existed.”
Durendal asked the AI to write predictions on three topics: “The Plague”, “Caesar” and “The End Times”.
One section reads: “O LORD of hosts, the God of Israel! When they saw the angel of the LORD above all the brethren that were in the wilderness, and the soldiers of the prophets shall be ashamed of the men.”
Another states: “And he said unto them, Go unto him, and see the mouth of all the remission of death.”
And there’s also this line about, “Let you take a great multitude of people from him, and the spoil of the wicked will be the same things that are in the midst of the sea, and the sea will be the mother of demons.” “
Although AI Jesus is far from perfect and consistent, it is another interesting example of how AI can be used to interpret and create on its own.
