Representative Axne announces $ 9.4 million US bailout for Iowa healthcare centers


Today the Congresswomanan Cindy Axne (IA-03) announced $ 9,486,451 in funding for the US bailout make improvements to 14 health centers in Iowa thanks to new prices of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The 14 centers include three in Iowa’s Third Congressional District: Primary Health Care Inc. and Proteus, Inc., both located in Des Moines, and All Care Health Center in Council Bluffs.

The money provided will strengthen primary health care across the United States and advance health equity and health outcomes in medically underserved communities, including through projects that support testing, COVID-19 treatment and vaccination.

“Our health centers and health care providers have taken care of more than they knew we would ever ask them for during the COVID-19 pandemic”, said representative Axne. “With funds from the US Rescue Plan, these centers will be able to modernize their facilities to meet today’s new and urgent public health challenges. I am happy to see the money I voted for being distributed in Iowa so that we can expand access to COVID-19 tests, treatments and vaccinations and create more equitable access to health systems during this difficult period. “

Iowa’s Third Congressional District Health Centers will receive more than $ 2,000,000 to help with major health care construction and renovation projects.

All Care Health Center in Council Bluffs will receive $ 567,419, Primary Health Care Inc. in Des Moines will receive $ 927,537 and Proteus, Inc. in Des Moines will receive $ 514,575.

Healthcare facilities can use this funding for needs related to COVID-19, including building new facilities, renovating and expanding existing facilities to improve pandemic response and purchasing new equipment. to support telehealth technology, mobile medical vans and more.
