Skylark Bookstore to Host Brené Brown’s Virtual Book Launch

When bestselling author Brené Brown unveils her maps of the human condition next month, Columbia readers will have a local lead to follow and draw their own points.

Skylark Bookshop is one of many independent bookstores in the United States to host a virtual book launch event with Brown on December 2, she announced late last month.

Five New York Times bestselling author Brown will discuss his latest book, “Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience,” released November 30.

The book covers “eighty-seven of the emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human”, according to a description of the event on the Skylark website.

Brown, professor and researcher in social work at the University of Houston, has written books such as “The Gifts of Imperfection” (2010), “Daring Greatly” (2012) and “Dare to Lead” (2018). Brown’s TED talk, “The Power of Vulnerability,” has been viewed over 50 million times and is among the top five most-watched talks in the popular series, according to his website.

“Brown’s research translates into many areas because it’s about having successful interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships,” wrote Mary Beth Albright of the Washington Post in a 2018 review of “Dare to Lead”.

Those who attend the virtual event will receive a hardcover copy of “Atlas of the Heart” with admission. Tickets range from $ 32.54 to $ 37.54, depending on whether attendees want to pick up their book from Skylark or mail it to them. More information and a ticket link can be found at
