Valparaiso High School Students Appointed to Valpo Human Relations Advisory Board

Two Valparaiso High School students, Cameron Hosek and Katherine Stalmah, have been appointed to the Human Relations Advisory Council of the City of Valparaiso.

Mayor Matt Murphy said, “We welcome Cameron and Katherine to Council and thank them for sharing their time and ideas as students at Valparaiso High School. When we designed the Mayor’s Youth Council last year, we were looking to encourage more young people to get involved in the community. It’s exciting to see the interest of these young leaders. Hosek and Stalmah are both graduates of the mayor’s first youth council.

Hosek will graduate from VHS in 2023. He is currently a UNICEF Board Member, Co-Chair of the Spanish Club, and active with Viking Nation, the American Sign Language Club, and the Spanish Olympiad. He also works part-time for Valpo Parks. He plans to study Spanish and medicine at university.

Stalmah will graduate from VHS in 2023. She is president of the Drama Club and active with Natural Helpers, the Speech and Debate team, the National Honor Society, the Alliance of Students Against Poverty and Hope Club, which offers peer tutoring. She plans to study humanities in college.
